Het is te zien aan mijn kat dat het lente is. Wanneer ik met mijn hand over zijn ruggetje streel, creëer ik een wolk van zwarte haren. Winterpelske maakt plaats voor zomerpelske. En content dat de poes is dat eindelijk de deur naar het balkon weer heel de dag kan openstaan.

De Amerikanen hebben van de Fransen veel steun gekregen in hun onafhankelijkheidsstrijd tegen het Britse rijk. Ze kregen schepen, munitie, mannen en geld. Sommigen bweren zelfs dat de Amerikanen hun onafhankelijkheid nooit verkregen zouden hebben als ze de Fransen niet hadden gehad.
Als teken van hun verbondenheid schonk het Franse volk de Amerikanen op 28 oktober 1886 het vrijheidsbeeld. Het symboliseert de verwantschap van de twee naties en hun gezamelijke strijd voor vrijheid en rechtvaardigheid.
Een paar onnozele Amerikanen hebben nu een online petitie opgericht om Lady Liberty terug te sturen naar Frankrijk. Ze vinden dat ze door Frankrijk in de steek gelaten zijn, en dat na wat de Yankees voor de Fransen hebben gedaan in WO2.
